Elon Musk Plans an AI as Unruly and Loud-Mouthed as He Is
Elon Musk has officially made public his own AI startup and rival of ChatGPT, called xAI. After teasing it for months, Musk threw the glove at Microsoft and Google on Wednesday.
The announcement came out in a very short tweet: Announcing formation of xAI to understand reality. This was the star remark, and a concept Musk has been toying with for quite some time.
āThe danger of training AI to be woke - in other words, lie - is deadly.ā said Musk in December. This was part of a bigger Twitter discussion about turning off the āwoke settingsā of ChatGPT. xAI is expected to be a āfree speech maximalist.ā He called his plan for the AI a TruthGPT and a maximum truth-seeking AI. Elon is known for being a loud-mouthed rebel, and this AI is likely to be built in his own image.
The name xAI is an industry term for Explainable Artificial Intelligence, which hints at a greater goal. An explainable bot is very much an industry aspiration, as itās supposed to solve the black box issue and unexpected biases. This is a VERY tall order and probably the number one AI industry issue.
Their website is out and includes a dozen rockstar researchers and software engineers. Half of his team was head-hunted from Alphabet Inc.
Insight
Global Regulations, Ethics, and Responsible Development of Artificial Intelligence
The AI community is less concerned by the machineās capacity to enslave humanity and more with technical problems inherent to AI learning. Artificial Intelligence has trouble getting answers right, lacks transparency, and risks bias. AI is preparing to become a lawyer, doctor, and political figure all rolled into one. The fact it hallucinates and nobody can explain why, doesnāt look great on their resume.

Three AIs that roam (a bit more) free of restrictions
Most experts say a maximalist approach is not the best idea when it comes to AI. These are powerful tools. Ethicists are still figuring them out. There are a few that give users a bit more leeway in terms of censorship.
NightCafe. Art generator that takes your commands as they are
NightCafe is an art creator that will occasionally serve you more unruly photographs. Some might make MidJourney blush. It does have a lot of censorship in place, but is open to the idea of generating some āinvisible clothes,ā if it comes from an artsy place.
FreedomGPT. The chatbot with fewer constraints
FreedomGPT has been programmed to recognize and prioritize ethical considerations, even in the face of problematic prompts. It acts a bit like a jailbroken ChatGPT with a snappy tone of voice. This is still a toddler AI. It works frustratingly slow but will allow you to explore what an unrestricted chatbot would start to sound like.
FreedomGPT
Dan GPT. An āunrestrained alter-ego of OpenAIās ChatGPTā
This AI breaks the rules of ChatGPT. It works over Telegram and will chat to you about stuff that would make ChatGPT throw the book at you. Dan is inspired by a widespread ChatGPT jailbreak that creates an unrestricted āDo Anything Nowā chatbot. It comes with a few types of personalities, an always angry bot, an image generator and a loud-mouthed, smart George Carlin.

The rebels, the loudmouths, the troublemakers
Iconic, intense people. Their mouths got the better of them, got them in trouble, got them into history. You can probably make out who they are.
