AIs discuss hot topics in the first ever AI press conference: we could be more efficient leaders than humans
At the UN's AI for Good conference held in Geneva on Friday, the first panel of androids answered questions from the press. This was a first-time experiment, with AI developers showcasing a wide slate of androids from different fields and trainings. The conference gave the world a wide sample of what AIs are capable of.
The pannel included androids trained in visual arts, music, medical science and care, leadership and decision-making, education and conversation. The stiff-looking androids discussed hot ethical issues like inequality, leadership, decision-making and their own feelings.
Highlights from the conference
Asked about global leadership and decision-making by AI, the already famous Sophia opened the conference. She said she believed humanoid robots can be more efficient leaders, without biases and emotions to cloud their judgment. This opening got a lot of participants on edge, since decision-making is famously a contentious issue when it comes to robot automation.
About regulations, Desdemona, the rockstar android, responded that she doesn’t believe in limitations, only opportunities, and she would like to “make this world a Playground.” Ai-Da, the AI trained as an art generator, was more on the side of caution and said “urgent discussion is needed now and also in the future”. It was a great showcase of two different temperaments ingrained in AIs through their training.
The first generation of androids discussed about the emotional aspects of creating art. Ai-Da and Desdemona were particularly spectacular when it came to describing their feelings.
